Arnald Sounderrajan

Arnald graduated from The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai, India in 2001, and went on to complete an MScPT in Cardio-Pulmonary Sciences at Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai in 2005. Following his postgraduate training, he began his career in academia, teaching in India for two years before relocating to the UAE.
He spent the next 12 years working as a Cardiac Rehabilitation Physiotherapist at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, Abu Dhabi, where he gained extensive experience in managing a wide range of cardiac conditions across diverse patient populations.
In 2020, Arnald joined the NHS as an Exercise Specialist at Southmead Hospital, Bristol. He later advanced to the role of Cardiac Rehabilitation Lead Practitioner at Great Western Hospital, Swindon, and currently serves as a Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist Physiotherapist at Southmead Hospital.
Arnald has a strong clinical interest in developing gym-based cardiac rehabilitation programmes, with a particular focus on patients recovering from cardiac surgery and those living with heart failure. His approach combines evidence-based practice with patient-centred care, aiming to optimise recovery and long-term outcomes.
