Simon is a Senior Research Fellow in Exercise Physiology at Sheffield Hallam University. He previously worked as an exercise professional in Hull’s NHS cardiac rehabilitation service, before leaving to pursue a career in research. His research focuses on the benefits of exercise training in people with cardiovascular disease. He has a particular interest in how exercise can be used to increase strength and muscle mass in sarcopenic patients with cardiovascular disease. Simon's work in the area of cardiovascular rehabilitation has seen him elected on to the British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation Council, executive committee. Simon is a local principal investigator for a number of clinical trials, including FARSTER, HIITorMISSUK, and CARE CR. He is also supporting the update of the ACPICR Standards.
